Kykeon™ (Modern)

Using roasted spring oats and wild mountain mint, we have created a modern and gluten free take on an ancient Greek tisane, Kykeon, which has not been sold for over two thousand years. In ancient Greece, Kykeon was commonly drunk to break fasts and was noted for its digestive properties. Nutty, refreshing and delicately minty, we have carefully sourced and blended our ingredients to ensure each sip has the best flavour and health benefits, encapsulating ancient Greek history and tradition.

Delivery time 1 - 5 working days, after the day of despatch. Order before 12pm on a working day for same day despatch.

For international orders please send us your order and location through our Contact Form for a delivery quote and to process payment.

  • Weight: Caddy 180g, Caddy Refill Pouch 180g

Ingredients: Roasted Spring Oats and Wild Mountain Mint

    When we Harvest: Each July

Growth & Production Method: Natural, Wildcrafted

    Country of Origin: Armenia

Health Benefits: Gut Health & Digestion, Anticolaguant, Antimicrobial, Antioxidant, Anti-inflammatory, Antiaging, Antispasmodic, Circulatory system, Mental Health, Detoxifying, Decongestant, Hydration, Immunity, Sleep, Vitamins and Minerals

Naturally grown without the use of any pesticides or chemicals, our roasted spring oats are harvested from 1,200 - 2,300m above sea level (depending on the year) from the Zangezur Mountains of Armenia. Only the outer husks have been removed (and the oats have not been rolled), which means higher nutritional content within each grain. Our spring oats are lightly roasted to bring out the earthy, nutty and sweet flavours.

    Storage Guide

Please note the pouches are not airtight, and therefore once opened, your tisane should be transferred to an airtight caddy or storage jar in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and strong odours. We do not recommend glass, plastic and paper containers.

    Medical disclaimer

Any noted health benefits of our herbal infusions are from traditional medicine and should not be used to prevent or cure any disease. Consult a GP if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or have any other health concerns.

Aside from oats being stored near barley (which contains gluten), our herbal infusions are allergen-free, however, we cannot guarantee that our foragers and pickers have not come into any contact with any allergens whilst picking or processing.

  • Our wild mountain mint is hand-harvested from its native habitat in the Lori region of Armenia, by the residents of the village of Odzun, supervised by an ethnobotanist, taking into account the time of day and time of year to keep the aroma and active ingredients at their best. The grassy green leaves are dried in the shade under the ceramic roof of a natural drier to preserve the quality, essential oils and taste. The leaves are then milled slightly by hand to allow greater extraction of essential oils with every infusion.
