  • Our wild elderflower is harvested 2,200m above sea level from the forest of Odzun, in the Lori region of Armenia, by hand. Our elderflower has been blended with our linden by the monks of the Sanahin Monastery, Armenia, for one thousand years, to create healing brews. In fact, Sayat-Nova the infamous Armenian poet, musician and ashugh, who had compositions in a number of languages, studied in Sanahin Monastery and was offered this concoction by the monks whenever he felt under the weather.
  • The name ‘elder’ is derived from the Anglo-Saxon word ‘æld’, meaning fire as the hollow stems of young branches would be used to encourage fires. Elderflower is native to Europe, Northern Africa, and Western and Central Asia, with a long history of traditional medicinal use among European herbalists, documented in the writings of Hippocrates, Dioscorides, and Pliny the Elder. Medieval Armenian herbalists would use elderflower as a remedy for treating cold and flu symptoms, as well as improving immunity during the sickness.
