The only single batch chamomile available - each day's pick is a single batch, which is separated and kept pristine. Varying factors such as temperature, time, rain and sun will provide a slightly different flavour to each batch. For a more consistent flavour we also have a limited amount of mixed batch caddies.
Like no other chamomile you have had before, our special limited edition naturally grown German Chamomile (Matricaria recutita) is sublime, with a grassy aroma and taste, and floral and delicately sweet closing notes. Flowers are comb picked and sorted by hand one by one from Kinnettles Tea Garden by the Walker-Munro family in Angus, Scotland, during the summer months.
Compared to standard chamomile, our chamomile is noticeably different in smell, colour and taste, without the expected intense bitterness, so you won't need honey or any sweeteners! This is due to the purer growing conditions, the method of drying and each flower being picked at just the right time.
We recommend linden as a chamomile alternative.
Best before dates are an indicative guide and not a strict rule of when the quality of food or drink will start to change. They are irrelevant to safety and therefore all our herbal infusions may still be enjoyed past their best before dates! This is an extremely rare batch, and will never be available again. Best Before Date: 31 August 2023
Delivery time 1 - 5 working days, after the day of despatch. Order before 2pm on a working day for same day despatch.

Introducing Kinnettles Tea Garden, located in the Strathmore Valley on the North East Coast of Scotland in Angus, who have been growing tea since 2007. Susie Walker-Munro sold the tea garden’s first commercial crop of handmade Kinnettles Gold in 2015. Along with growing and making their own tea they also have a horticultural business which supplies tea plants grown from specially selected cold tolerant seed brought in from Ilam District in Nepal.
In April 2021, The Tea Gardens of Scotland, a new artisanal tea brand, launched Nine Ladies Dancing and is now stocking Fortnum & Mason with its first batch of tea plucked together from nine independent tea gardens across Scotland, including Kinnettles grown tea!
One of Susie’s polytunnels had collapsed due to snow over the winter so a large part of it was removed exposing the tea bushes and surrounding ground to rain. Years ago she had planted the tunnels with clovers and chamomile to grow alongside her prized tea plants, but the extra hand watering which was required became burdensome, so she focused on the tea bushes and had forgotten about any fallen seeds from 5 or 6 years ago until a few weeks ago! And now, we’re so pleased to say we have been very blessed as she has the time to harvest it due to the tea plucking season being so late this year.
Susie’s chamomile is naturally grown without the use of pesticides, comb picked and sifted by hand. Compared to standard chamomile, it is noticeably different in smell, colour and taste, without the expected intense bitterness. This is due to the purer growing conditions, the method of drying and each flower being picked at just the right time.
Usually the stems of chamomile are not included as they are sold on to the pharmaceutical industry, but given there is no further use of any of the chamomile we source, you’ll find more of the stems included, which provide an even grassier aroma and taste, with floral and delicately sweet closing notes. We hope you enjoy photos of our June - July 2021 chamomile harvest!
